Shadow People
“WHAT WAS THAT?” You were sitting comfortably on your sofareading the latest issue of FATE in the dim light when movement across the room caught your attention. It seemed dark and shadowy, but there was nothing there. You returned to your reading - and a moment later there it was again. You looked up quickly this time and saw the fleeting but distinctly human shape of the shadow pass quickly over the far wall… and disappear.
What was that? Some natural shadow? Your heightened imagination? A ghost? Or was it something that seems to be a spreading phenomenon - apparitions that are coming to be known as “shadow people” or “shadow beings.” Perhaps this is an old phenomenon with a new name that is now being discussed more openly, in part thanks to the Internet. Or maybe it’s a phenomenon that, for some reason, is manifesting with greater frequency and intensity now.
Those who are experiencing and studying the shadow people phenomenon say that these entities almost always used to be seen out of the corner of the eye and very briefly. But more and more, people are beginning to see them straight on and for longer periods of time. Some experiencers testify that they have even seen eyes, usually red, on these shadow beings.
The mysterious sightings have become a hot topic of conversion in paranormal chat rooms, message boards and websites, and it is given widespread attention on paranormal talk radio.
What are shadow people and where do they come from? Several theories have been offered.
THE IMAGINATION
The explanation we get from skeptics and mainstream science - and who are usually people who have never experienced the shadow people phenomenon - is that it is nothing more than the active human imagination. It’s our minds playing tricks on us… our eyes seeing things in a fraction of a second that aren’t really there - illusions… real shadows caused by passing auto headlights, or some similar explanation. And without a doubt, these explanations probably can account for some if not many experiences. The human eye and mind are easily fooled. But can they account for all cases?
GHOSTS
To call these entities ghosts demands first a definition of what we mean by ghosts. (See the article: Ghosts: What Are They?) But by almost any definition, shadow people are somewhat different than ghost phenomena. Whereas ghost apparitions are almost always a misty white, vaporish or have a decidedly human form and appearance (very often with discernable “clothing”), shadow beings are much darker and more shadow-like. In general, although the shadow people often do have a human outline or shape, because they are dark, the details of their appearance is lacking. This is in contrast to many ghost sightings in which the witness can describe the ghost’s facial features, style of clothing and other details. The one detail most often noted in some shadow being sightings are their glowing red eyes.
DEMONS OR OTHER SPIRIT ENTITIES
The dark countenance and malevolent feelings that are often reported in association with these creatures has led some researchers to speculate that they may be demonic in nature. If they are demons, we have to wonder what their purpose or intent is in letting themselves be seen in this manner. Is it merely to frighten?

In there, there is something eerily similar to this. They are called mud shadows. ((This book is non fiction, based on real experiances he had under the teachings of a Yaqui Indian by the way)) They are what you see out of the corner of your eye when it’s dark. To see them better, you have to train your eyes to look at the dark first. Not the light. Try a leaf. Most people’s eyes are automatically drawn to the side that’s lit up, or brighter. Try to focus on the dark part. Then, when it’s dark, just stare into nothing but watch for these shadows. Soon, you’ll see them more and more until you’ll wonder how you could NOT have seen them. They are everywhere. They take different shapes, but Carlos described them as giant fish in his book. They feed off the human mind. Why is it that people are so concerned with starving, when most have never experienced it? That’s because it’s not your fear. It’s the mud shadows.

Remains of a ’female vampire’, identified by the clay brick that had been jammed into her mouth after death. The brick is thought to have been used to prevent the woman feeding on victims of a plague which swept through the city in the 16th Century.
Experts said the discovery supported the medieval belief that vampires were behind the spread of plagues like the Black Death.
The skeleton was unearthed in a mass grave from the Venetian plague of 1576 - in which the artist Titian died - on the small island of Lazzaretto Nuovo in the Venice lagoon.
Situated around two miles north east of Venice, the grave was used as a sanatorium for plague sufferers.
Matteo Borrini, of the University of Florence, said: “This is the first time that archaeology has succeeded in reconstructing the ritual of exorcism of a vampire. This helps… authenticate how the myth of vampires was born.”

The Island of Misfit Dolls
Located in the canals of Xochimilco, Isla de las Muñecas is a tiny island that, much like Silent Hill, is better off existing exclusively in your nightmares than in the realm of reality. The legend goes that a young girl drowned off its coast nearly 50 years ago, but shortly after her death the island’s sole inhabitant, hermit Don Julián Santana Barrera, began finding distressed and broken dolls washed up in the nearby canals. Believing them to be evil spirits, he hung the dolls from trees to protect himself from any malevolent forces and calm the ghost of the dead girl, and as is the case with most scary stories of this kind: the island and myth surrounding it became a popular tourist attraction for people to photograph. Barerra guided tourists around the island for money until his eventual death, wait for it: drowned in the same canal he had found the girl. The dolls, lifeless and mutilated, still cling to the island trees as a monument to the deceased and a warning to the living. Check out a guided tour video below:

So I got this email the other day from the Fight for the Future group about SOPA. I myself was rather active and fought against SOPA & CISPA. But most of that ended last year with it being voted down. YAY! But with this email, it got me thinking about and also showed me how things could have been if this had pasted.

A mysterious carcass that (apparently) washed up on July 13th at Montauk, Long Island, New York. And then soon after that more started to show up as well.
Some people thought that these mysterious creatures washing up on shore were either raccoon or opossums but that was argued by many experts to be wrong.
The body is stocky and robust and the limbs are slender and gracile. The digits on the hands are slim, elongate and with small, relatively straight, pale-coloured claws. The slim tail is about equal in length to the head and neck combined. The face is short and it looks like the postorbital part of the skull is long and bulky. While no teeth at all are visible in the upper jaw, the lower jaw clearly contains a large pointed canine and four post-canines with tall, conical cusps. These teeth increase in size posteriorly.
What are these creatures?
I was never enthralled much by the montauk monster. It always looked like a bloated, decomposing, teeth-missing raccoon.

The Indonesian Walking Dead
Toradja people do practice something akin to the rising of the dead. It seems that the people believe that death is a long process, sometimes taking years as the deceased gradually work their way toward Puya (the afterlife). Very elaborate measures must be taken during the funeral to ensure that the loved one makes it safely to that destination.
Because the funeral arrangements are so extensive, they are also very expensive. For this reason, a body is sometimes placed in a temporary coffin. During this time, the family can accumulate the necessary funds to pay for a proper funeral, which includes a cave or hanging casket, a multi-water buffalo slaughter, chanting, singing, music, stone and wooden effigies to protect the soul during travel, and so on.
Once the funds are raised, so is the dead. It seems that the Toradja genuinely believe that the dead are able to walk themselves to their new burial site. More likely, and what we are seeing depicted in the picture, is that the somewhat mummified corpse is removed from its temporary coffin and transported upright to the permanent site. As “corpse walking” is part of the tradition, the body is held in the standing position to simulate ambulation.They say the corpse is agreed using black magic. They do this because the cemeteries are in mountain regions, so no one wants to lead the deceased to the place they must walk alone.
The body follows, guided by an “expert” in black magic, which takes them to the site. However there is a rule, if called by name, the body falls and will not raise again.

Aokigahara (青木ヶ原). There are over 100 dead bodies found in the Aokigahara in Japan every year. It’s known as the place where most suicides, after the Golden Gate Bridge, take place. You can wander around and suddenly come across rotten bodies, guns, razor blades, suicide letters nailed on trees. A sign at the forests entry tries to hold people back,”mind your children, mind your parents,talk about your pain”,a phone number of a suicide hotline under it. Even children were found dead in the Forest. Old cars are standing in front of the forest, broken bicycles. There are tents with dead bodies, arms, legs, even eyes in them lying around. A haunting, but fascinating Place.

On December 3rd 2012, Mercury , Venus and Saturn will align in the northeast over the pyramids in Giza. This particular alignment over the spacing of the pyramids is very rare. This won’t happen again for another 2,000 years.
Most astronomers will probably say this event is just a coincidence, but given the evidence of ancient Egypt’s impact in history, I keep an open mind. This could be a phenomena lost with an ancient civilization that seemed to have known a few things about the universe that we have yet to understand…
